    Vathi met Vaathi

I recalled that precious moment when Shenoy sang for me at Candolim beach, when we all went for a picnic.

     Shenoy's Song-

    I know, who you are?
    I know! I know!

    Com'n Aha... aaaaaaa...

    People say, you are beautiful.
    I say you are adorable.
    I say! I say!

    I know who you are?
    I know! I know!

    With a Cresent-Moon Canthi,
    You are my Vathi.

    With an ornamental Acanthi,
    You are my Lecythi.
    You are my Vathi!

    You pose like a Primrose,
    In a Polyanthi.
    You are my Vathi.

    I know who you are?
    I know! I know!
    People say, you are beautiful.
    I say, you are adorable.
    I say! I say!

You run on the beaches with bare feet,
Sand says a flower is on the beat.

    You try catching the waves,
Wave says, an utterly- butterfly moves.

You move around on the Sea-shore,
Air says, her hair is fragrant lavender.

You giggle and do a happy dance,
Sea says, a happy- peacock's rain dance.

    I know who you are?
    I know! I know!
    People say you are beautiful.
    I say you are adorable.
    I say! I say!

You are my inside-out beautiful wife.
    You are my love!
You are my wifey for life!
    You are my love.

    I know who you are?

    The times of 1965

    The door knocked

    Tak-Tak

    Riddima opened the door.

The president of their colony came.

Riddima! Please control your daughter Raadhya. She is the most notorious kid in our colony.

Sorry, mam! Riddima said. But tell me what happened?

Come outside and have a look at what your daughter did?

They go outside near the colony gate. Where Riddima sees that her daughter Raadhya did painting with emojis on the colony wall.

Colony president says, "we have spent so much money in maintaining these walls. She ruined everything."

Riddima smiles at her. She Goes near her daughter who was in fear. She asks, " Raadhya, why did you draw this here?"

Raadhya in her little tone, " I drew them because I want people to see them and be happy."

Riddima said, "You can draw on a paper?"

Mom I have seen many paintings on the flyovers, walls in our city. People stop there and take selfies. I found that they all are happy. I wanted even our colony people to be happy.

Riddima said, " That's a good intention Dear. But all those paintings are made by professional people who are trained. Even you should get trained to do that. But still, your work is good. You should first practice on paper, get trained to reach the wall and art exhibits."

No! Mom. I'll do it on the wall.

Yes! Dear, you can but after some time. Just think how can you show your beautiful art piece to your teachers and friends at school. They all cannot come here.

Okay! Then I'll cut the wall. Carry it and show them.

Okay! Try if you can cut?

Raadhya runs into her home to bring a knife.

    Meanwhile, colony people-

Instead of controlling your daughter, what are you telling her? To cut the wall!

Another woman says, look at my son? How disciplined he is! Your daughter is notorious.

Please! Lady doesn't say that. I'm not supporting her to do that. I was explaining to her the problem you people have.

    Oh! You are pleasing her!

Then what I have to do?

You have to scold her, beat her, take her home.

No! I will never do that. I'll speak with my kids. I'll explain them. By the way she good intention of making you people happy.

At the age of 5, she has an interest in painting and she observed a lot too. I want to encourage my child in her talent.

So, you will make her paint all the walls.

    Please, I'm not yet done!

Raadhya comes with her toy knife. Tries to cut the wall on which she painted. She takes the knife and scratches it on the wall hardly but nothing happens.

    Mom! Help me.

No dear! We cannot cut a wall like this. We should not. We build it recently when we bought a new billiards kit for you.

Oh! Mom. But I lost some pieces in the billiards kit.

So, you are unhappy about that.

    Yes! Mom.

Then even our colony people will be sad if we cut the wall. You want to make them happy.

Yeah! Mom. Then what about the painting.

You can re-do it on paper. However, from next week you can join painting classes too.

    Okay! Mom let's go home.

Riddima says, "That's so simple to handle kids. Always shouting, mental abuse, physical abuse suppresses their talent.

By the way, Mam you compared my little one with yours. Why do you want to compare two beautiful roses of our colony?

After coming back home, Raadhya starts painting, while their grandpa was talking to Abhay.

Riddima goes into her room. She writes in her new novel, these lines

    "JUDGED AND COMPARED

    Yes!

We face it in different situations of our life.

We are compared to other kids in Childhood life.

When our parents say, look that Y got more marks.

Look your friend got a good rank and seat in College.

When our teacher says, you are nothing and you will be nothing in life, only the first ranked will succeed in life.

When we hear this every time, we bare it every time.

When we hear our parents saying look at your friends getting settled at a young age.

They compare everything from appearance to earning.

    Yes! Our parents love us.

    They are concerned about us.

But we don't compare them with other parents and say

Look at my friend's parents who have a big house, who earn more than you.

We don't compare our teacher with the teacher of other school and say he is settled in a good life and earning more than.

It's about comparison and getting compared.

Sometimes children compare their parents with others, saying they are not doing like them.

We as children, teenagers, or young adults keep on repeating these words and comparison and de-motivated.

But when we think in a reverse way, maybe I would say positively and say to inner ourselves that

    All my Dearest persons,

Please wait one day you will find an incomparable me. The one and unique me, with my own identity.

It's about self-satisfaction, rather than thirsting for stopping someone to "STOP COMPARING" me and "STOP JUDGING" my life.

They compare us only once when they say but keep on thinking about their words and compare ourselves for N times.

Is this life or reality show! Why are we judging each other?

If this never happened with you, great you are a lucky and blessed person.

If you never did this as a Teacher, Parent, or child, you are great! Keep going...

If comparison and judgment happened with you, great! You are blessed to say on one day, I'm incomparable, My life is not meant to be compared and judged.

Life is not a race to compare and judge, let's connect emotionally with self-respect and mutual understanding and love."

    Vathi met Vaathi

At 8.00 pm, my laptop was locked. I could not understand. I thought Shenoy was telling me to have dinner.

I had dinner and came back. As I opened my laptop, I typed Hamsa143 in the password area. But it said the wrong password. Your new password hint is Vathi143.

I typed a new password and it opened. I checked my social media accounts. Again, I saw Smrithi posting questions in my Quora digest account. Again weird questions.

    Question 1
A girl called her boyfriend 100 times. She is so cozy. Do you know her?

    Question 2
A 33-year-old man is traveling from Shimla to Bangalore tonight. Did you ever meet him?

    Question 3
The Andhra Pradesh police started an investigation in the case of pregnant women who died falling from a hill in the Nallamala forest.
Aarav Goswamy, an investigative journalist started a debate on this topic on a news channel.

    Question 4
    Which forest is near Ellamandhu?

I thought what are these questions. I'm unable to understand this woman. What is she trying to tell?

I don't know the answers to the first three questions. But I know for the fourth question.
The forests near Ellamandhu are Nallamala and Ananthagiri hills forest area.
    But Nallamala is very near.

Thinking about it. I slept. I was tired of studying for 13 hours on that day.

    Attitude matters

Grandpa, I lost in the 200 meters run at school!

Abhay! It's okay! How many people participated in the run?

Ten students of 3rd grade Grandpa and I reached the finish line at the last.

    Oh! Why dear?

I followed the moral told by you. "Slow and steady wins the race"

    When did I say that?

The last Sunday night, you narrated a bedtime story of the Hare and Tortoise race.

In the end, you told me that slow and steady wins the race. I followed this morale in the race.

Oh! Dear little Abhay, I told that morale because the hare was lazy, as he underestimated that the tortoise is slow and he can win the race at any cost.

But at the end,  the hare sleeps and the tortoise reaches the finish line and wins.

"Oh! Dad, he was crying in the school until his physical training teacher motivated him," said Abhay's Mom Riddima.

Grandpa! That's what the morale you told me. But today after I lost the race everyone called me little tortoise at School.

Oh! Sorry to hear that Abhay. Why did they call you little tortoise?

In the race when everyone was running fast, I walked slowly but I reached the finish line after everyone reached there.

My physical training teacher scolded me. I mean giving a big lecture.

    Oh! What did he say?

He said, "If your Grandpa told you the moral story of hare and tortoise. You will follow that in games at school. If you want to win the race you should run fast.

It is the attitude of the hare that made it fail in the race. It's the head stubborn attitude that a hare can run fast, whereas a tortoise cannot.

But the tortoise was steady with a strong attitude towards its goal to win the race.

So the tortoise won the game even when it cannot run.

Abhay thinks in a reverse way if the hare had the right attitude towards the game. It could win the game because of its strength speed.

Always we should have the right attitude towards our goal. So that our positives help us winning and we can even overcome our negatives.

I said, "so, we should have the right attitude towards our goals, it's not speeding or slow"

The teacher said, "yes, Dear! Take an example of a slow-cycling game played by secondary high school students, which you have seen yesterday. The rule of this game is to do the slow-cycling without removing your leg from the paddle, the one who reaches the finish line in slow cycling mode without removing a leg from the paddle will be the winner. So here you have to be slow. Whereas the 200 meters race is for speed. Who reaches first with speed running will be the winner."

Grandpa says, "yeah Dear! Your teacher is right. It's about attitude.

Our attitude should be by our goals, our positive and negative characteristics."

Grandpa! Then we have to change the moral of the story.

No Dear! The writer of the story wants to say that even though the tortoise cannot run, it wins because "slow and steady wins the race"

Probably, the inner meaning would have been this, the right attitude of tortoise made it win the race even though it cannot run and the wrong attitude of the hare, made it lose the race even though it can run at a good speed. As your teacher told.

Then Grandpa, why you did not tell me this when you narrated the story?

I didn't know about this Abhay. We were always taught that slow and steady wins the race as the morale of the story.

Oh! Grandpa even your teacher told you the same.

    Yes! Dear.

Which school did you study in?

    Vathi met Vaathi

After 10 days, while we returning from our workplace he proposed to me. He did it pre-planned. We have an approved work schedule ready at the beginning of the month. So, he made a plan.

That workplace was 25km away from Bangalore city. It was like a schedule and he knows that I like long drives. While we both were returning, he proposed on a flyover that runs for 15kms.

He said, " Vathi, I'm not just proposing because your beautiful. I always want a partner like you. Who supports me in work. How handles me mentally as you do. Who understands me and my work-life balance. A person whom I can trust blindfolded. A person who is a friend of mine. I liked when you saved an abandoned girl baby, who was thrown into the dustbin.

Will you share my family responsibilities also like work responsibility. I'm ready to share your responsibility.

It's been six months that I realized I like you and want to marry you. But I was worried about the age gap of 10 years between us. I was worried about your education which is not yet completed.

Vathi I want you to understand my feelings, emotions, and responsibilities. Vathi! I love you. Will you marry me? Will you be my inside-out beautiful wife?"

I was silent and I did not speak to him for 1 week.

    Vathi met Vaathi

Jr. Dr. Ali abdal was narrating the story of their patient named Vathi to his senior Dr. Arjuna Ahluwalia.
    Narration:
Vathi a young, energetic, studious, and beautiful girl from a village named Ellamandhu completed her graduation in one of the top universities of India.
After her graduation, she joined a Company for the compulsory training program. Where she met her teacher named Shenoy (Vaathi- teacher in the Tamil language). Shenoy was ten years older than Vathi.
In the beginning, Shenoy did not like Vathi as he found her dominating, straightforward person.
Shenoy had a feeling of insecurity regarding Vathi's talent. But later he realized that she is open-minded and supports him in every work and she can handle a big team. Shenoy liked Vathi's leadership skills.
One day Vathi came late to the office. Shenoy was angry with her. But she saw an abandoned infant in a dustbin on the way to the office. She took that infant to a nearby hospital and registered a complaint in the police station. Knowing this everyone was impressed by Vathi and they help her in finding a good place, parents who are ready to adopt the child. Shenoy liked social responsibility in Vathi.
After two years Shenoy realized that he loves Vathi and plans to propose to her. He takes her to a drive and proposes to her. Vathi also loves him but she takes time to accept him.
Vathi's contract with the company was for two and a half years. After the completion of the contract, she has to join an institute for further education. Vathi accepts Shenoy's proposal before she leaves the office. They started a live-in relationship that was kept secret from everyone else. They have the habit of using Team-viewer on laptops and chat during work hours.
After five months Vathi leaves the company and goes to Goa for further education. Shenoy visits Goa very often to meet Vathi.
She always teased Shenoy for being fat and increasing his belly fat Uncle. As he is quite older than her. Even Shenoy teases her that she is a lady don because of her dominating nature and leadership skills.
During her classes at Goa University, she meets Vinay. Vinay was her teacher at her graduation level. Vinay also joins as a guest lecturer for a PG course at Goa University. Where she comes to know that Vinay and Shenoy are best friends.
Vathi tries to avoid Vinay as he had a crush on her during graduation level. Vinay proposes to her in the college. As she ignores him, he tried texting and calling her.
She was swirling around whether to inform Shenoy or not? The covid lockdown begins.
She tells everything to Shenoy. But before she told him, Vinay informed Shenoy that he proposed to her. Vinay spoke very badly about Vathi describing her that she is sexy and beautiful with attractive eyes, long hair, thunder thighs. Shenoy was annoyed by listening to his friend's words.
Shenoy loses his temper and shouts at her abruptly. He was in pain. He was doing gym for one year to get a six-pack and gift it to Vathi on her birthday. He lost his morale with a pain that she might love or get married to Vinay as he is more handsome than him. Shenoy tells a breakup to Vathi.
This was the time when Vathi has to give her PG exams during Covid times. She was preparing with her laptop making notes. She tried to call Shenoy, texted him but he messaged her that
" We never happy and we will never"
    IT'S over!!!
She cries for days together leaving her preparation for exams. She was writing this exam for Shenoy, as he wanted her to top the university and join him in his business as a women director.
She starts writing an e-diary every time she remembers him. Suddenly she calls Shenoy. He speaks to her in a good tone but doesn't assure about their relationship.
She didn't sleep for one week. Her parents were worried about her. They tried to discuss with her and told her to concentrate on her exams. She started preparing for exams. But suddenly she received a Bluetooth call to her laptop. Usually, Shenoy makes Bluetooth calls. She thinks that Shenoy is near to her home. Came to meet her.
But when she goes out Vinay's car was parked near the society gate in Ellamandhu. Vinay was not ready to leave her. She comes back checks her laptop then she realized that her laptop was hacked by someone. They changed all her passwords related to social media accounts. She runs a program to check the location of the hacker.
Then after checking the location and IP address she realized that her laptop was hacked by Shenoy's and Vinay's childhood friend Karan who is an ethical hacker by profession.

    8. Where is Shenoy?
    9. I'm afraid of

When I started writing this book I had no idea about how to plan chapter names?
Slowly I did it.. My chapter names are a part of the dialogue of my characters in that particular chapter. Situational chapter names.

Like here I named chapter 7 " My name is Hamsavathi Adah Devaraj" which is a part of this dialogue in this chapter
" Dr. Kanika reading the book in her room.
She has completed reading half of the book.

Before going to bed she reads a page with a line saying, " Vinay used to call me Hamsa in Goa University. I always hate, when he calls me Hamsa. He calls me Hamsa because my name is Hamsavathi Adah Devaraj."

Her parents are continuing their familial legacy. They respect both Indian culture and Italian culture. That's why they named her Hamsavathi, an Indian name from the mantra
"Hamsavathi mukhya shakti samanvitha" meaning " Goddess Durga who is surrounded by Shakthi or strength called Hamsavathi".
Her Biblical name Adah means adornment.
    Great cultures.
May God bless Vathi with peace of mind.
    It's time to sleep."
