A letter in hand
It was morning then
The sun rose
Seeping through her blinds
Glazing her room
With a buttery light
Rousing her from
Her dreamless sleep
Warm in her bed
She she enjoyed
That feeling of being relaxed.
Breathing easy, slow
Drifting, inhaling
Floral scents from
Outside her bubble
Mixed with scents of bacon
And coffee.
It's felt so good
To just lay there
Feeling safe
In the support of her bed.
With no tension
No worries
No pressure
Between worlds
It was on the platform
Waiting for the train
She thought she saw her
Standing in the crowd
Someone passed by
And the moment was gone.
It couldn't have been
Could it?
Afterall it had been years
since her passing
A little boy
With a toy drum taptaptaptaptap
While she waits
Taptaptaptaptap
She looks down the tracks
Taptaptaptaptap
Waiting, wondering
Today is like no other
Taptaptaptaptap
She feels it
The anticipation
The excitement
The winds of change
Have arrived
Bringing with it
The train
Once boarded and settled
She scans the crowd
And there she is again
A glimpse of hair
I flash of face
Her mother?
How could that be?
Yet something was different
Her fashion was cooler
Her countenance foreign
But familiar.
Feeling creepy
She averts her eyes
Looking out at the world
Sipping the coffee
In her hands,
Mmmm just the way she likes it.
At the next stop
The train empties
And her eyes wander
Across the car
She sees her again
A clear view this time
Eyes meet eyes
And the other woman
Grins from ear to ear
The girl taken aback
Looks around and finds
She's the only one there.
Looking back
This woman who is much
Older than she
Is approaching.
Definitely not her mother
But seems like she recognizes her
As she is rushing to her
Like you would to a long lost friend.
The woman pulls her into a full embrace
Seemingly oblivious
To how the younger girl is feeling
"There you are," the older woman says,
"Here I am!" Echos the younger one.
"I've been looking forward to this"
"You have?" Asked the younger one confused
"Yes, you see when I was a young girl, just like yourself, I was on a train one day. On that special day I met a woman who hugged me and gave me a letter. Today is that day for you! Do you have any questions for me?"
Stunned the girl asked her questions
They had a long conversation
At the end, the woman kissed her cheek.
And placed the letter in her hands along with a gift. Please tell me your name asked the girl.
And the woman told her.
"But that's my name."
The woman smiled larger and her eyes twinkled in the sun light as she stepped off the train.
The girl looked down at the letter still in her hands and read it.
It was morning then
The sun rose
Seeping through her blinds
Glazing her room
With a buttery light
Rousing her from
sleep
Warm in her bed
She she enjoyed
That feeling of being relaxed.
Breathing easy, slow
Drifting, inhaling
Floral scents from
Outside her bubble
Mixed with scents of bacon
And coffee.
It's felt so good
To just lay there
Feeling safe
In the support of her bed.
With no tension
No worries
No pressure
Between worlds
But now it was time
To get up
So she did
Empowered, invigorated
And ready to take on the world
With letter in hand.
