You once told me Love is like a canary bird,
Hold it too tight, it will die
Hold it too loose, it will fly
Like a dream so well caressed but now broken.
You once told me to engulf you in my huge arms,
I held you too close inside my ribs in my heart.
But you suffocated, gasping for breath
And unclasped yourself away from me.
You once told me to give you your Freedom
Which I very happily made room for,
And yearned for a libertarian victory of our relationship.
But it was too late to catch you back.
You had flown away.
