An exceptional life Something out of the ordinary You've been living every single day Craving to be someone luminary Did they make you believe That you need to "live your best life"? And if not, and if you live like YOU You'll drown in a vicious strife?
You try and outdo yourself Or else you won't leave a mark You gain nothing but heaviness from it all Allowing yourself to listen to them bark You want something that can only be imagined Letting your precious present slip You spend days wondering how to stand out Wondering how to escape this guilt trip
Oh but your happiness doesn't come from a car, a house, a sizeable income.. Living your best life isn't always about circumstances Not when you can be yourself in an ordinary world A world where you take your own chances So don't let them. Don't let them give you decrees Don't let them have dominion Don't let them sway you and Don't let them rule your opinion
For it's perfectly okay If living your best life is waking up To a beautiful and sunny morning To enjoy your tea in a ceramic cup To live without anyone's scorning If living your best life is taking a walk A quiet peaceful walk through the park Or if it's always loving the little things Loving the little details that give you a spark If living the best life is singing along to your favourite songs Or coming back home to your dog If it's watching a new series or movie Or reading an inspirational blog
And so what if you live a normal life? So what if you have a few friends? So what if you're clumsy in your job at times? And maybe sometimes struggle to meet ends? Who says a good life has to be exceptional? You choose your own ways & according results you get So please end existing their way For living an exceptional life is all about the mindset
Gratitude helps you fall in love with the life you already have. You've probably heard these words a million times before but I want you to hear them again and really embed them in your heart. BE GRATEFUL. The reason I chose this topic today is because right now, the situation we're currently in makes us go crazy and thus ungrateful. Here, picture this : Your school/office is shut down indefinitely. You're attending your classes/meetings via online. You can't go out of your house. You haven't met your friends in over a month. You're required to buy masks. You always have to look out for sanitation. Life couldn't be worse, you think but guess what, IT COULD BE. It is worse for a bunch of people out there. You see people losing their jobs, homeless, infected with no money to pay for treatment, quarantined away from their families. You feel uncomfortable. You shut down your TV and choose to scroll through Instagram. Sound familiar? It does because I was like you. Ungrateful and only selectively empathetic, until I realized that for us, we can look away from the heartbreaking news whenever we want to but for the people out there, they can't because that is their life now. Discomfort and unsafe. So I chose to be grateful. Everyday penning down in my journal the things I'm grateful for today. I have my family, my friends around me safe. I have online classes through which I can still attend school. I have daily food. I don't have to worry about jobs. I can sleep peacefully. I have the ability to buy masks, have the means to be sanitised, and most importantly, I HAVE A ROOF OVER MY HEAD. Of course, life has become tougher, there are more challenges and more new ways that I need to learn how to live with and sure, for some people it's hard mentally too. People have problems, they feel locked in, suffocated, experience anxiety and issues as such but trust me, if everyday you practice the habit of listing down 5 things you're grateful for, it will be easier. Whether it be one percent or fifty percent, it will be easier. If you're reading this right now, chances are, you're doing quiet okay. And for those of you who are already thankful for what they have in life, kudos! You inspire me. Let's take a minute now and think of 5 things you're grateful for. I'm not kidding. Do it. Did you feel better? If not fully, then a little bit right? I hope you find it in your heart to be thankful for wherever you are in your life. Take time to be thankful today because you can always have more but you could also have less. Stay safe. Stay healthy.
These are just random thoughts I was having. I hope you found this piece well penned. Thank you for reading. Stay at home everyone.❤️
Let's be honest here, the song makes you feel sad. Whether it's being sad for a friend you've lost yourself or being sad even for Yoongi. To think that we know people whereas we really don't. Not when Yoongi so beautifully and in such a melancholic way expressed yet another story of his life to us. A story wherein he lost a dear friend of his. Dear My Friend is personally a song I can relate to because I've lost a friend or two in my life, whether it be because I've simply lost contact with them or because they're not here anymore.
The song starts with a simple line, "Ajekdo Yeojhoni" literally meaning "I still miss you" or "Even so, I still miss you" and then goes on to describe the entire incident which takes us back to Yoongi's ordinary life, one where he wasn't Suga and was Min Yoongi. The song continues telling us how Yoongi had a close friend with whom he had shared his thoughts, his ideas, basically himself over 'soju' or beer and how he had lost him when one day he received a call letting him know that his friend is a prisoner at the Seoul Detention Center with Yoongi visiting him once in a while. The song doesn't tell us in detail what exactly his crime was but I believe Yoongi left that to our imagination. Music is what the listener deciphers it to be anyway.
Even after being released from jail, Yoongi particularly mentions that his friend 'offered him some' which we can only imagine to be some kind of drug and the moment Yoongi declined, he knew he was never gonna see his friend again, he knew how he had changed and that this wasn't the person he was once soulmates with. Although a rap song, the music has a retro vibe and the rapping is done in a slow way letting the listener understand the words sung, with the chorus beautifully brought to life by Kim Jong Wan of NELL with a really catching hook saying "I hate you but I still miss you dear friend." The mixture of guitar, piano and drums in the background makes it perfect and probably one of the things that made me really fall for the song.
The entire lyrical content gets deeper and more profound whenever the lyrics speak of how good of a friendship they had, exchanging ideas to change the world, passion in both of them that held the power to turn things upside down and whilst Min Yoongi very much has achieved those dreams in his life, he still aches on the fact that his beloved friend isn't there by his side anymore. The vibe is soft but intense at the same time.
Speaking of the bridge, it has nothing but just the instrumentals playing. The drums and the guitar providing a feeling of both peace and sadness ( according to me ) and it's when the same chorus is sung again, is when you realize that Yoongi didn't really have anything for us to learn from here. He just wanted us to listen to his story and when he's done, he's done, leaving you wanting more. The lines "Even so, I still miss you" keep repeating and you know that's how the story ends. It doesn't get better, it doesn't get worse, it justs ends and so does the song in a matter of a few minutes. Guess good things really don't last long ;)
In the Break The Silence Docu Series, on the latest episode, Yoongi speaks about how he is envious of people who get to go out with friends and do ordinary activities such as the movies, dining etc, throwing light on the fact that he doesn't have any personal friends. Maybe this shows how an idol's life really is from the inside while all we see is the sparkly appearance of fame and money. Somewhere along the song, we realize that Min Yoongi sometimes misses Min Yoongi and his old life. The life where he had friends and an ordinary schedule. The life where he hasn't lost his dear friend. The life where he is not Suga for a while, where he's not always in the spotlight. The life which is normal.
In conclusion, Dear My Friend helps us to get to know our idol better, to learn a little more about his life and how not everything that glitters is gold. Not everything that looks happiness feels like it. The way Yoongi expresses himself through his music really makes you think and realize how much he has gone through. If I had the power, I'd tell Min Yoongi that he's got a friend in us, in ARMY. That he's not alone and that to achieve one's dream, you have to lose some and you have to gain some. Dear My Friend is a deeply personal track and the least I can say is that I'm eternally grateful for Yoongi to be able to share this with us considering how reserved of a person he is. I'm sure it took him lots of courage to present this for the whole world to listen and I'm proud of him for that. Now it's time for you to listen to the song again, what're you waiting for? Let's get going! :)
Hope you enjoyed this. For those of you who don't know this song or haven't heard of it, I suggest you to really take some time and listen to it ( the full album if you want ) because no one has ever composed and sung songs like BTS. Trust me.
My ears are still blessed, fresh after almost a month long comeback of BTS, and maybe after careful interpretation, emotional anguish, joys and tears of understanding their songs lyrics (not to mention their performances yet) combined with my cup of tea when it comes to music genre, I have come to a conclusion that MOTS: 7 is already my most favorite album of BTS (top spot over LY:Tear in my heart) and.. aNd.. AND my #1 favorite song from its tracklist is none other than "Louder Than Bombs" - periodT. I dont know how could I emphasize that more it's like a love at first listen.
"Louder Than Bombs" sounds beautifully haunting, the flow or exchange between vocal and raplines are smooth, the bass drops, atmospheric vibe and heaviness of feeling just when you listen to it, gives you effective concept of darkness, sensuality, misery and goosebumps combined.
I think that's why I love this music, the background echoes, it's a sad song that gives me chills on a slow tempo where lower registry of the rap verses feels like they're whispering through your ears, blending with the vocalists as they hit high notes, get me swooned, it's perfectly brisk and addicting - beautiful and I love it!
Namjoon confessed about taking part in writing lyrics on his rap verses while he was down and in sad mood. I think it helped somehow, to express sorrow which the song has to deliver. He also mentioned that it has become a turning point to embrace pain after all the questions and confessions he has to him self. I suggest, that if you still haven't watched his broadcast, do so! I love learning his take from every behind-the-album making and whenever he talks about a song. He's the leader of BTS for many reasons and I have such huge respect for him.
Now it has grown to be so clear,
the unfamiliar shadow amidst those cheers
Perhaps I wouldn't be able to believe the words:
“Let’s only see and hear good things” no more
Your silent sadness, it shakes me
In my quiet sea, waves would sometimes rise
Baby, I'm nothi'er than nothin' brighter than the light
Don't you want a thing from me
But you say I'm somethin'er than somethin'
Brighten than the light, don't you give up your life
Here I stay, pray' Just for better days
Everyday a maze wonder if this is my place
If any of you have read translations of the song ''2! 3!" where in the group means "hoping for more good days" I'm sure those lines from the two verses of LTB will remind you of the message. The verses imply that no matter what bad things we are going through right now, it will pass and there'll be better days and bright future ahead for us - just don't give up. Just like RM said during his live broadcast, we can't be happy all the time, but they want to tell us that we never walk alone, and they are here to comfort us as they listen to our words.
Artists are born out of pain ☆
I meant some artists are born out of pain because their songs (such as "Louder Than Bombs) never fail to give more depth than mainstream. We all know that in such young age (during their trainee or debut days being in a small unrecognized agency) they had to come across the ugly side of being an idol, sustain criticism, started with no enough money and learned from what they witnessed backstage. Other than that, they have different family backgrounds, personal struggles, such experiences force people to mature beyond their age. That's also the reason why we're inspired of BTS as artists..they break taboos, barriers and addresses issues, they are not just your ordinary boyband to give you charming love songs.
Where's my way? The ground keeps quaking
I collapse on my own, mute; louder than bombs yeah
I want to tell you, that darkness
Exists everywhere, Don't be afraid of it
Whatever night may swall me, I won't give up
The fight for you we'll shine
People say they're jealous of us
The I have, they say it's hypocrisy
No matter what I do, I get caught up in sh**
If not us, yeah who will do it?
Going back; aside from BTS understanding human nature and life situations, the lines above pertain at how some people overlooked them as idols. On the heights of success, there are those who tend to belittle their pain and message such but not limited to:
"You got everything in the world, what are you complaining about?" "You're the most famous people, you don't need any more votes in charts, give others a chance" "They always win, we knew it, how dare they speak of injustice" "Your issues are way little than others go through" "Disbanding? What drama is it all about?"
By all possibilities, BTS encourage us to speak ourselves because it also helps them to find courage - to also speak themselves through music, whenever they listen to ARMYs stories, even if we have different pain points. "Louder Than Bombs" is that song which could represent the fear and pressure idols like them experience in such high position and how they dwell in that regard by using influence in a good and positive way. It's bittersweet, I know, that's how I interpret it, to be able to resonate with one another through pain, knowing that it connects us, BTS understands the struggle and tr to be the comfort we need. They aren't here just to make excuses, they are humans as well.
Amidst pain & success </3
Bombs when exploding have a powerful connation, its either terror or war (that hardships and pain represent) and its noise is frightening as it is loud. Originally, RM shared that the phrases were supposed to be "All the pain, pour out" and "Protective walls collapse" but they made it lyrically poetic without direct description, they plead fighting desperation - "I break louder than bombs"..
You and I, we feel it together sadness and pain
It's not coincidence, yeah we picked this game
Louder than bombs, I break (ah)
I'll tell it in front of the world (ah)
The times I've ignored you
The days where I kept running away,
There won't be anymore
Louder than bombs, I say (Oh oh oh)
Louder than bombs, I sing
Make a promise for you and I
Whatever wave may sweep over us
We will endlessly sing to you
Louder than bombs, I sing (oh oh oh oh)
Aside from the song being a way for BTS to establish deeper emotional connections to fans and make promises to sing against all the misery one could experience, LOUDER THAN BOMBS seems to symbolize loudness of bombs in two things which are "PAIN AND SUCCESS".. it can depict result or noise of how BTS took pain, fear, hardships as if those are bombs that dropped in the position of their height while moving past them, AND it also denotes having much louder cheer of success and chants of support as they carry on stronger, they're determined to achieve better days and greater things to come their way.
It's not just the enthralling voices and melody which captivate me, but also the quality of an affirmative point I learned from it. The lyrics hit me on a different level like hearing their pain through music, realizing they've gone through so much, for more than 7 years, but still here they are, in front of us, continuing to land their dreams and make us happy by leading people with their voices. Even if the song expresses sadness, the ending lines or hook brings a very hopeful message. Whenever a new music is being released, I always notice most ARMYS analysing it from a theoretical point i.e. as a parallel world where they connect one song to an incident or to a possibility. As much as I enjoy reading those, I personally prefer to analyse any song based off of real facts and not theories or alternate universes. It makes me dig deeper into the music and helps me learn the kind of artist I'm listening to. But that's just me. I've worked hard on this analysis for a long time as I wanted to express the exact emotions I feel whilst listening to it.
I hope you find whatever you're looking for out there. I hope you find the happiness that exists on your own terms. I hope you truly take the time to figure out what moves you, what encourages your soul, what you deeply crave from life, and I hope you're brave enough to chase that. I hope you have the courage to believe that you are deserving of everything you desire, that you're capable and worthy of curating the kind of life for yourself that sparks something within you. You have a fire inside of you – I hope you never let convenience and comfort or the easiness of standing still put it out. I hope you show the world what you can do with all the passion inside of you. I hope you find the kind of love that makes you a softer person. The kind of love that makes you want to be a better man or woman. The kind of love that believes in you and supports you, that stands by your side. I hope you find someone who quickly becomes your favourite thing – someone who makes the fall less fearful. I hope you find the kind of people in your life who you can't help but choose every single day. The world is suffering right now and we need hope. A lot of hope and love to overcome what's in front of us. I hope you hope, and I hope you love.
I'll give anything to be away right now. This lonesome world makes me ache and fear, for my soul is no comparison to the cruelty this world possess. I'll give anything to run away. Run away to a new horizon because who knows? Maybe I'll find wanderlust somewhere, maybe I'll feel things again. Maybe I've been looking for it in the wrong place all along. I'll give anything for you to take me to the safest place there is, for my heart is ready to depart. I've heard that some journeys take us far from home whereas some adventures lead us to our destiny. This is not it. This does not feel like home anymore, neither my destiny and I'll give anything to be back home once again. I believe everything you imagine has the power to turn itself into reality. So why not turn my thoughts into reality too? Why not start afresh? I'm so scared at this moment. Scared of this world, scared of the fake smiles around me, scared of humanity despising humanity, scared of myself just existing anymore, and I promise you that I'll give anything to live and not just exist. I'll give anything to feel my heartbeat once again. I'll give anything to drown the water away from my soul. I'll give anything for my lungs to be able to breathe again. I'll give anything to live. I'll give anything to be away.
