A toad years ago
It was about four years ago
That a tiny guy came visiting
Every night he'd sit with us
Just us three outside chilling
It was a toad that came around
The cat didn't seem to mind
I thought it was kind of cool
Maybe he just wanted to unwind

Little Toad
Blinded by morning light, drowning in dew. The little toad sighs and stretches his legs.
By now the snakes are slithering through the weeds, and the cranes are stalking their prey.
But we can't worry about what we can't control, today.
Today we practice swimming. With each thrust our legs grow stronger and our heart more confident.
The frawns parry, dismanteling the sun beams, as the ripples in the water dance with reflections.
The little toad dives deep in the water, deeper than he has ever gone, and his eyes scan the surface. He doesn't know what he may find, but his instinct boils hard within him. A tiny pond skater catches his eye.
