The one person/thing I love most in this world is my mother and the connection we share. I know a lot of people would probably have a similar reaction and say the same thing ... but we have a connection like no other, it’s even better than the awesome connect I have with my closest friend . From caring for me and bringing me up , she’s never ever left my side. In bad times when I acted up and got into trouble , she patiently waited for the bad times to tide over. She’s the first person I call when I am happy and the first to know what’s hurt me too. Not once does the woman crib and be mean - and for that I’ll be forever grateful . Her straight forwardness and honesty are her strongest suit and she’s worked very hard trying to instil the same in me. Her acceptance of my general weirdness and sometimes scary out of the box ideas makes her my closest pal and my best friend. She’s a vault - if I tell her something , I know it’ll go the the grave with her. She’s my guide and mentor . It is due to her encouragement I am who and what I am. I hope one day someone may be able to say that I was even 1/10 of her in life .... it would make me think that I’ve truly lived my life well.

Ma

Mothers have a special way,
Of always knowing what to say,
From being around from far away,
To turning gloomy days into months of May !

I m lucky to have been around you ,
To watch and learn and know what's true
From jazz to bass , r n b and blues,
It was no school that taught me, it was always you.

For all the times you weathered for me,
For tears of agony and pain ,
For joyous moments you made special for me,
For always knowing how to make me smile again .

I wish I could tell you how much I care for you,
Put words to feelings that’ll always be true,
Saying them out loud makes me feel like a sheepish fool,
But I want you to know Ma, how much I love you !

I envy that! My mother was cruel and abusive, and made me beg for every scrap of affection, she ever showed me! The relationship you have is rare and to be cherished! I can see and feel that you do! pallavi4 @shegram I think sometimes god makes us suffer because we are given both the strength and the tools to deal with our troubles. Sometimes I think it is done to teach us how to be a bigger person . I believe in karma - what goes around comes around . It’s very disheartening to hear that you did not share a good bond with your mom since no one can really care for us like a mother can . Try writing down your feelings in the form of prose/poems . I write when I want to get something off my chest or sometimes to deal with pain and anger. The min the words touch the paper , the anger dissipates and you feel much better.
I’m very grateful to you for all the beautiful words you’ve written for my mom and I . We do share an outstanding bonding and I consider myself very lucky to have gotten such an amazing human being as my mother.

I have loved shoes for as long as I can remember. They are the first things I notice in a person and the only things that make me really really happy . Needless to say I am the owner of several scores of shoes — heels, flats, strapped and everything in between ! Not only do they occupy the largest space in my closet , they have over the course of time , cost me a fortune . The look of them , the feel of them , the way they smell all have me enthralled. The minute I swipe my credit card I know , I have bought a gleaming piece of art and that makes me happy . If I had paid more attention to boys instead of the latest shoes in style , I would probably have a love life today to speak of on Valentine’s Day !

Please tread carefully - you are about to read about what has been the greatest love affair, however one sided , of my life .

A love that’s lasted through space and time
Your leathery smell makes me weak at the knees
So does your leathery gleaming shine !
I love the way you make me feel tall
God knows I need that boost —

A wanderer’s house

I found a barren little piece of land
In a far off dubious place
And decided it was where I was to dwell
Despite all the challenges I would face

I trudged, I struggled and I laboured
But the toil felt like a healing balm
The climb was long and hard
To my troubled mind - a healing calm

Finally that day came when I was done
And I stood tall and proud
The world was to lay witness this day
Not a wasteful land - but a great big house

What marvels you’ve done, what a miracle
Folks couldn’t stop talking about how tough it’d been
I wondered why now that it was done
The house - the struggle suddenly meant nothing to me

So I found another to love it well
And bid that beautiful dwelling I lovingly built goodbye
This dispassionate disconnection made me proud
For I had survived without so much as a sigh

Many a storm I have faced
Many a battle I have lost and won
But still forlorn and discontent I feel
Attached to nothing and no one

Building things makes me happy
It takes sweat , blood and tears
It gives me a chance to love something again
And be whole again without any fears

I am those houses I build again and again
Painfully putting together each little piece
And away with it once it is done , to arid lands
For nothing I really love is truly meant to be with me

My constant wandering often makes others question
What it is that I am looking for
I am looking for that piece of myself I lost so long ago
The one that was the key to my heart’s door

In the beautiful houses I create yet abandon
I wonder if I ever really left open a door
My wounds would heal thanks to mountain winds
And I would be a wanderer no more

I feel my eyes unable to bear
The weight of what I see,
Slowly I feel my eyelids
Struggling to ward off sleep.

As my eyes finally close
My mind is finally at ease ,
It feels like slipping into a warm bath
Where the weariness of lives cease.

As though painting on a blank canvas
My mind feels free as I begin to dream,
My eyes now rest as I begin my quest
Among meadows and green trees .

In a far far away land of wonder
All my worldly troubles freeze ,
My mind rejoices from the freedom I feel
As I continue to dream in my sleep.

The mind is a maze of thoughts
Myriad paths from it tease ,
So many ways , so many adventures —
Treasures locked away as we dream .

And if I don’t wake up from this dream
And pass onto the other realm as I sleep ,
Sure I am that a tomorrow painted in bright colours
Will await me- pleasant just like my dream .

Autumn

The falling autumn leaves
Know no comfort as they
Swivel their way to the ground .
They hope that as they
Fall and saunter , next spring
Atop trees they may again be found .

How they had majestically
Graced the tops of green
Shiny trees as green glossy leaves
Gone are those days of youth
As branches get rid of them , all the while
Waiting for the ground to freeze.

That hapless , hopeless feeling
One of helplessness ,
Of discontentment and disarray -
Distracting thoughts guide
Paths narrow and deep
Disguised as contented thoughts of May.

Laying old and tired on the
Icy frozen ground , resting softly
Atop a small heap - a mound,
A shroud of misery cloaks them slowly
Covering them with thoughts of being
Forever lost , never again to be found .

Please find me the strength

The starry night - Vincent Van Gogh

I see a lot of hope in this painting
Feel a strange bonding with it’s form,
The bright colours , the bold strokes
The twilight overlooking a sleepy town.

The waning night in blacks and blues
The black sinister looking trees ,
The ebbing night flowing like a life force
Forms a strange connection with me .

The rising sun - one like a ray of hope
Breaking the blues of the fading light ,
Forgotten are all the troubles of life
As dawn breaks the monotony of the night .

My life is one of constant changes
Like the shadows and light in this village quaint ,
My life is one of hope and strain together
Much like this day and night together in paint .

Do you ever feel lost ?
Like a tree uprooted
From the depths of the earth
Like a balloon floating aimlessly
Up on a white cloud
Like a bubble on the surface of water
Moments away from bursting

Do you ever feel empty ?
Like a glass devoid of liquid
Filled with nothing but air
Like a pot without soil
Or a rich green plant
Like a thoughtless wanderer
Wandering without an aim

Do you ever feel tired?
Of dragging your feet
And being a burden to everyone

Nothing

Can you see me in the thick grey smoke
From the chimney top ?
From black coals to nothingness
In minutes from here to naught

Can you feel me in the frothy foam
That ladens the never ending sea of blue?
From tonnes of water to lacy ringlets
Reduced from giant waves to airy dew

Can you hear me in the chirping birds
In the crows, the quacks , the wails ?
Come the night all fade away
From the tree tops leaving familiar trails

Can you smell me in beds of roses
In the romantic aroma sweet ?
A day too old, a little too much air
And I’m rendered no longer a treat

Nothingness is a mixed feeling
Reduced from something great to having no value
Nothingness is being here without being there
Reduced from torrential rains to vapours few

Enough

Sometimes I wish I
Could just start singing
To the ringing ,
To the strange buzz
I hear in my head .....
Every time I hear you shout
Get ready for another bout.
Sometimes I don’t really
Want to know what the
Ruckus is all about .
If only
You could see what
It does to me when you shout .
The scare of losing security ,
The trouble of trying to be invisible ,
Wondering what can I do
That would be permissible .
Most days the carpet under
My bed seems comforting ....
But most days my strength
To be myself everyday seems
To be Evaporating .
I wish I could stop being the
Cause of all the trouble
That makes you fight
Again and again ,
I wish I could be enough
I wish I could do something
Enough to stop your pain.
Do you not love each other ?
Am I not good enough ?
Is loving another person completely
Truly this tough ?
Plagued with questions
I sleep... often again at school
Others seem to be
Racing past me at maths
While I seem to be
Lagging behind like a fool.
I wish I could get my you
My mom and dad to be .....
The way you used to be
I wish someone would
Hear my wish
And then not
Punish me unnecessarily.
