    ORIGAMI

    1.

    "No cuts please!" yelled the
teacher and I dropped the blade
    from my shaky hands.

    I'd already spoiled
a dozen sheets by the time
    she noticed the mess.

    Was I a fool to
    believe that paper folding
    was an easy thing?

    I had done nothing
    noteworthy in my life and
    hit an all time low.

    I'd turned to the art
    of paper folding, thinking
    that it was child's play.

    But a few hundred
bucks and two weeks later my
    opinion had changed.

    "Origami is
not for me." I'd told myself
    in no unclear terms.

    What was worse, I heard
    one of my fellow students
    talking about me.

    "Look, this guy works like
a blacksmith where he needs to
    work like a goldsmith."

    2.
    Then I announced that
    I'd decided to quit the
    origami class.

    My fellow students
    chose to remain tight-lipped while
    the teacher seemed relieved.

    But she looked worried
when I told her about my
    immediate plans.

    I told her that I
    was going to register
    for a music class.

    The origami
    teacher, a music lover,
    looked a bit upset.

    The music class was
held next door and she would be
    compelled to hear me.

    She tried to stop me
from joining that class but I
    had made up my mind.

    I've a screechy voice
and no sense of rhythm but
    that hardly matters.

    And I believe in
    moving on, so failures can't
    dampen my spirits.

     . 24
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------

Life is like a journey on the number 24 bus,
So welcome aboard, young one; come, sit here with the rest of us.
Let's hope you're going to be on here for more than just a while.
Look out of the window, young one, and enjoy every single mile.

Embrace each milestone, young one, each stop along the way.
Immerse yourself in childhood, each innocent, lovely day.
Think nothing of the future, of the long road up ahead.
Live each second, each minute, each turn of the wheel instead.

Don't pace the aisle, young one, yearning for miles to pass,
Until you reach the terminus when finally at last,
That day is here, the day for which you've really always strived,
The perfect day you've longed for when you've finally arrived.

Maybe the end of school days or the day of graduation,
That's when you'll be happy, when you arrive at that station,
So roll on the miles until that blessed day.
That's when life will come together; that's when you'll make hay.

Or maybe it's when you meet "the one," when you settle down.
Yes, that's the time to celebrate when you reach that town.
Or maybe life won't really start until a family comes along,
Or is to pray for retirement so really, very wrong?

The journey will be sad at times, for stops will come along,
When those we love will get off; at times we must stay strong,
As we carry on without them, as they pass the baton on,
But they are there outside the bus; they're never really gone.

So gazing out the windscreen up front at the road as it bends,
Don't think about tomorrow, wondering where the journey ends.
Instead, look for today's colours, those shades of greenery,
Of all the hues along life's road, the breathtaking scenery.

Don't miss them, young one, planning for the destination.
This bus will not reverse again once it reaches the final station.

    I've been deserted
    by my creative forces.
    Nothing seems to work.

    I struggle hard to
get my rhymes right but every
    effort is in vain.

    I continue to
    rack my not-too-bright brain though
    it's agonizing.

    I see dozens of
    talented versifiers
    in the assembly.

    Their glittering words,
and the applause they get, fill
    me with jealousy.

    Nobody seems to
    notice my absence and that's
    extremely painful.

    Am I past my prime?
Have age and time beaten me?
    Am I a spent force?

    I believe I should
    distance myself from the
    literary world.

    Will a long break
    really help me revive
    my sagging spirits?

    I wish to curl up
in a ball and spend some time
    in a dormant state.

    I hope to return
    with renewed vigour after
    this hibernation.

    Hold Your Tongue

    You upset my balance
    You advanced in search of
    A challenge
    You fathomed
    You're laughing
    I'm pacing
I'm dragging my feet in protest
    This must be a text
    I k.O all the rest
    Line them all up
I'm all in placing my bet
    You're stalling be patient
    I've got to finish saying
    My pride is still staying
I'm tired of this I retire
I'll be back on Monday for the payment
    I want receipts
    These laws I'm obeying
Except Karma has lost its respect
    You won't see your payment
Becoming complacent puts you exactly to where the replacement will be seated in your seat
    Not talking adjacent
    We grow up we think
    Don't let this dark sink
    If an existence blink
And miss the midst of mortalities kiss
    It's formalities bubble into mist
That glisten and pop violent when they
    Hiss
    The itches
    The sound of the switches
    Like glitches on tsunami's power
It brings islands down on their knees
At the width of her knees they line up and kiss
    All these key points
    They're croaking by choice
    They think death amplifies voice
It mutters while it widens the void
It hit me like an asteroid
    I'm left devoid of power
    My voice tugs me
    It tells me to
    "Sing louder"
    When I'm in the shower
    At a late night hour
    Make sweet from the sour
My heart can empower me the same way
The sky does to the Earth
As birds sing in it's Utopian garden with flowers
    Don't taste the apple
    I will lick the ends
I will soak in your creek
I'll curl up to your end
    In bed where I met
    Your skin and your sweat
    A memory I cannot forget
I'm in love with you in the black dress
With a bow in your hair
    Leave my mind an unwoven
    Mess
You are my only means to destress
    I've tried it
    Run tests
I feel it beat in my chest
