After the lockdown, which had lasted for about 4 months and nobody knew when this all was going to end, 4 friends; Aaradhya, Vidhi, Kavya and Riya, decided to connect with each other via video call.
Let’s see how their call goes.
AARADHYA, VIDHI, KAVYA, RIYA: (Greetings) Hey, hello!!
AARADHYA: It’s been such a long time since we have seen each other.
VIDHI: Literally, I was very excited for this call.
RIYA: Yaa, text messages do not give us that feel. That seems so tacky.
VIDHI: Hmm, I agree.
AARADHYA: Me too! Well, how are you guys doing?
VIDHI: I’m just getting bored of all the online classes and assignments.
RIYA: Ohh, I’m still left with some of my assignments incomplete.
AARADHYA: Hn, I have to do research for my project.
VIDHI: This COVID has left us with nothing. We can’t meet our friends and family.
We can’t step out. All we can do is attend our online classes and do lots of assignments.
RIYA: So true, but for me, I believe online classes are not that effective.
AARADHYA: It has affected our studies badly. We can’t interact with others freely and network issues are always there.
VIDHI: But, I think, it has given us a lot of time to explore ourselves.
AARADHYA: That’s all OK. But it’s too much. We don’t need this much time. Our studies can’t be the same as it was when we used to go to school.
RIYA: Well, how is the situation over there?
VIDHI: Hmm, it’s good to see people following the guidelines. I find less people going outside. They go out when it’s necessary and they have no other option.
AARADHYA: At my place, we seldom find people disobeying and fighting over masks and lockdown. Some people don’t want to follow rules now.
VIDHI: But…What happened to Kavya? She is so quiet. She has not even uttered a word other than ‘Hi’.
KAVYA: It’s nothing guys. I was just listening to you.
AARADHYA: (Sarcastically) You know…She is studious. She might be revising some topics in her mind.
RIYA: (Sarcastically) Or probably, she is preparing for some National Olympiad.
VIDHI: (Rudely) Oh, shut it.
RIYA: Well...That’s the truth. She is always studying. She has never ever taken any interest in our talks.
AARADHYA: Yes, & she always gets the perfect score.
VIDHI: (Angrily) Guys! It’s not that it’s her fault. It’s us who do not pay attention to our studies.
KAVYA: (in innocent tone) It’s OK. Let them be.
VIDHI: (Angrily) No, it’s not OK……Let’s just go back to our work. We are just deviating. Bye!! (Ends the call)
(After a few days, they again decided to have a nice talk.)
AARADHYA, VIDHI, KAVYA, RIYA: (Greetings)
KAVYA: Hey friends, how are you all?
AARADHYA, VIDHI, RIYA: Fine.
KAVYA: (Excitedly) I have got something to discuss with you all.
AARADHYA: (Sarcastically) Ohho! What’s that? Are you going to challenge us or something?
RIYA: (Sarcastically) She might be inviting us for a quiz.
VIDHI: Guys! She has not even said anything. Let her talk.
KAVYA: (Innocent tone) Yes, it’s not that. Let me finish myself.
RIYA: Can you say anything else? I was just wondering, how could you say any thing first.
KAVYA: It’s really not that. I’m…I’m just…
AARADHYA: (Rudely) Save it. We know you.
KAVYA: (Angrily) Really? You know me? How? I can’t remember when you have ever listened to me. If not for Vidhi, you would have always bullied me. You think that I’m weak, I can’t protect myself, that’s why you just keep bickering
AARADHYA, VIDHI, RIYA: (Smiling)
KAVYA: (Angrily) What happened? Why are you all smiling?
VIDHI: It’s nothing.
ARADHYA: We just wanted to see that.
KAVYA: (Angrily) What?
RIYA: We wanted to see you protect yourself. We have always seen you being laughed at, but you never say anything. You know…It will harm you, only.
VIDHI: Yes, it was our plan to provoke you and let you see, that you can also stand for yourself. You don’t need someone all the time. And if not that…We are always with you…Every time.
AARADHYA: Did you really thought that we are that bad? Offf…I can’t believe it. Mmm, Are we OK now?
KAVYA: (Smiling) Yes. We are OK. We are friends forever.
VIDHI: (Nodding) Yeah…Friends…
AARADHYA, RIYA: (Excitedly) FOREVER…
Here, the story ends on a happy note where all the four friends patched up, their loosened string of friendship was tightened once again.
This story was trying to tell that friends are not only for enjoying life together. They also need to teach each other good life lessons and help each other change for better. They are there to lend their shoulder to other as well as to make
other strong to face the harsh reality.
