In My Solitude
A loner I am not by choice but circumstance
The price to pay to hide from the whole world was solitude,
And I paid every last penny.
And now, in my solitude, bereft of the confidence of friends,
Denied of the safe-keeping of daily woes, anxieties and hopes with another mortal,
I struggle to make sense of it all
To find confidence in silence,
To find solace in loneliness.
I paid every last penny to hide myself from the world
To finally come out as a victor one day and tell my story.
Unbeknownst to me, I needed the world more than it needed my success story.
Now, in my solid solemn solitude, quietly counting the days,
It never ceases to occur to me that I need them more than they need me.
