No More Expectations
...Well, to me,
This is now a dirty word.
When you expect a damn good day,
Life turns it to a turd.
Don't expect to count on others,
They will always let you down.
Even when they say they won't,
They do; on the low-down.
If your dumb enough to trust a man,
Don't even get me started,
The only male I trust's my dog,
The worst he's done, is farted.
Years ago, I wed my love,
And treated him like my king.
So, he gave me: chlamydia,
A miscarriage, and beatings.
Just another expectation,
That I, somehow, had all wrong.
The next one came with:
Fractured bones and,
this here, "unexpected" song.
Dumb as hell, I tried again,
With other "nice young men".
"What a fucking waist of time",
I'd think, as I'd leave them.
By now, I've "learned" for 40 years,
But, the lessons stayed the same,
No matter how high women climb,
Men will always play their games.
