    The Allegory of the Cave
    (by Plato)

    Two lovers found a way out of the cave.
    They saw the light and realities as they behave.
    Filled with joy even their faces couldn't hide.
    Back to the cave, they went, that people see Light.

    Alas! Under the gloom, the people said,
    "Your smile is a lie."
    Still, the two lovers continually journeyed,
    "Lo~ the soft face of love, if you wholeheartedly try."

    (Poem by Seraiah)

    "Always Gardener, Never Rose"

    Always a gardener, but never the rose;
    As it's sung in songs, penned in purple prose.
    A lyrical lore often written before,
    But those aren’t the volumes I’m looking for!

    Those sad-settling scenes should be ignored;
    Taken from movies, strewn on cutting room floors.
    You can’t open minds by shutting the door;
    hopeful hearts will be reeling from what minds ignored.

    You toil with rake to get the bouquet,
    But fragrant fall flowers will wilt anyway
    They promise you blooms, leave only leaves the next day
    Finding you faltering, and stumbling to stay.

    You so clear,
    So vibrant and dear to everybody
    How do you feel being so popular?
    Asked plastic with envy to water.

    Not popular than you my dear,
    You are there everywhere, ask land and air
    and every human which generates
    you more and more day by day
    without worrying about
    the ensuing year,
    So, now you rule the kingdom
    asserted water in despair.

    Pursued Through the Night's Cold Depths

    Falling in the surging brine
    Dragged down into the caverns
    By the swift drain of time
    ~
    Life’s anthems roll forward
    And onto the horizon
    Its melodies muffled
    In the cyclone below
    ~
    A few words crash through
    In a reckless dive
    Falling from lost vessels
    Charging for their own abyss
    ~
    A few notes crash through
    In pursuit of this dive
    To the nightmarish depths,
    Breaching through the grey dawn
    And its cold salt breeze

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Light pockets, what a heavy burden.
    An abscess within society.
    Collecting grime and crud. Living in filth and mud.
    Recession, behind what the eyes can see.
    Love's spoked wheels, duteously tread the soft surface behind which rotting infests.
    Inside my living body grows a tall stench of death.
    Inside my small mind grows reasons to be upset.
    I swear I've taken in poison, and I'm poised to show as well that I am too weak to hoisten myself out.
    I am kept in ruin.
    A minotaur of my own maze.
    An American Flag
    Draped on the fresh white painted building
    In the midst of it's patriotic outfit
    A sunny day so they water the yards
    So thirsty the money they're drinking
    No masks
    Are they thinking?
    The time sand it's sinking
    Their fall is beginning
    In a summer dream
    A summer worth living
    Moon
    Moon High Melting It's Milky Light Into Night
    The street lights dance with my movement
    Necromancer as I prance congruent with my
     shadow
    Ego shining through my skin after swallowing it's
    Pride in every stride I scan my land with piercing
    Eyes two that are for looking and one for me to
     see crystal clarity that I maintain 3 in perfectly
    Placed positions in my soul
    Blood
    And every drop of it until all I have left is my contorted body
    My corpse bitten by my lack of remorse
    Can eat away at me most viciously
    That still wouldn't not stop me
    I refrain from feeling sorry
    Stay far from me I'm a bomb of empathy
    Pulsating with it's essence
    It's presence and it's immensity
    Truth is a weight I can carry
    Increasing in mass
    In density
    Condensing so pleasant
    Like sugar cane in cake
    A recipe and an increase of my
    Power it's so overwhelming I shake
    But I'm built to filter the feeding of hate
    I'll scrape the scraps onto their plate no need
     to contemplate I cannot lose my stoic cape
    I don't share fate that's done
    I can't place my empathy outside of me
    I have places to see
    Family that would miss me
     I'm one of three
    I seen in every eye
    I see death lick at flesh with a flirtatious flicker
    Licking at their skin
    Their screams like tree bark grow thicker their
    Ungodly grin that reeked of sin
    Before you wish for sunny days
    Remind yourself of the desert
    And it's animalistic rage that can only be self
    Shattered Glass
    Spring came
    And I feel the same sting
    From the ground
    As it devoured me
    I drown as my heart sinks
    In blame and bitter shame
    And my ears ring
    My tongue is tormented by the taste
    The pages of my past tear
    And the remaining are indistinct
    As I become less aware
    As my blood coats the sink
    As my thoughts drink my attention
    The deception before the drop off the brink
    Of my direction where it meets it's end
    Where the meaning is lost all my life
    In just one blink
    Valentine's Velvet Cape
    In morning sunshine haze
    And sunset
    with an iridescent glazea of a milky honeydew drop of the moonlight and it's lunar rays of of a twinkling gaze into the truth illuminated with moonbeams of empathy
    And motherly love holding your pain meaningfully and tenderly
    Encompass and envelop me in a blanket of safety
    For when I'm lonely and I need my own company in the intricacies
    The instances where I was not enough for me
    I needed that luminosity to fight the dark that tries of overcome me
    For that i will love me
    Self doubt won't knock me into the ground
    I won't sit i get back up and stay in tune
    I seethe fumes
    I breathe in red
    White
    Blue
    And blow it out in fumes that change hues and subdue the most angelic tune with a melody of a memory in nostalgic frames of time
    with me and you
    And you and me
    Intertwined and uncombined
    Somehow Apollo's light captured me as it emmites bright thoughts of insight myself and I smiled in delight
    And kissed the Moon goodnight
    In an uninterrupted slumber
    With time that doesn't divide and
    Limitless and passionate
    Felt in blissful energy we cannot see
    In the infinity
    The World is Hungry
    It's belly aches and it's body trembles
    It's well aware and well awake
    I cannot convey anything other than what the world doesn't take from me
    As it threatened me so menacingly
    Over my head
    Dripping gooey drool
    As if it wants to devour me?
    The past will never last
    And this is the time that's best for me to relapse
    Collapse
    Drown in an obsidian black
    In the Caspian Sea
    With a heart in my head of glass
    Clutching to my sunken chest
    A copper clasp
    I love until I dizzy from the tango until I tip my cap
    A hat made from the format of an Antarctic flame in an existential plane where I was and wane
    On the borders of the crested thoughts that drive me insane
    All these needles in my brain
    Stain after stain after shameful stain
    I crush it with all that remains
    And I cannot wait to end this game
    I'm tired of the hurt of this pain
    That was never mine to bear until I was aware and ensnared in a trap where my past laid it's card
    A spade it latched onto my thoughts I thought I was the one from something I've made
    Not gaslights I don't remember dipping my toes in the waters nor have I notice that my flow
    In swarms of locusts as I row down the stream
    Of your gaslight and it's ghastly godforsaken glow
    In time you'll know
    Let my words be the eyes of the crow
    That watched you below
    Karma is different from what you have ever known
    Get comfortable in your new home
    Of your false crown on your crumbling throne
    I never got to speak not even on the phone
    Just a dial tone as if I'm an orphan black and sad as I watch time go
    The pictured statement is, in my eyes, quite profound: as an analogy for why spiritual messages are often convoluted to decipher and, at times, confusingly explained to others.
    It also references the flexibility that allegorical language provides; it is truly as if the words move in totally new directions.
    Have you ever thought of metaphor dimensionally?
    What does "Metaphor is a three dimensional conversation" mean to you?
    Two hearts sail the same ocean
    without notion
    blind to their devotion
    both stricken
    in the same shipwreck
    feeling a sun set
    finding their way by
    maybe they just might
    “Allegory”
    ©2018 Away With Words
    Stark space, horizon lines;
    these words, a landscape;
    this pen, your eyes.
    The page, a world,
    despite the turns
    against the wind,
    a torch still burns.
    In words, you see
    expansiveness.
    Your heart, it yearns
    to tell me this:
    Though time will pass;
    It's me, you'll miss
    "Your prose, its pretty," you say to me.
    "But its colour fades, cast next to thee"
    "Its eloquent," you remark.
    "You're like a star; my words seem dark"
    ...and still I paint,
    brush metaphors;
    a canvas,
    once stark,
    is stark no more.
    Gathering
    All these dudes and my mom, they be gathering.
    She left us all in the car, she be straight trippin.
    I'm 4 years old in the car she in the house. Next thing we hear is straight moaning.
    I didn't know, but now I know she was she was straight running and training.
    I'm looking back on these memories from when I was five years old.
    I don't remember much, as I'm older at twenty-five.
    She ran a train and left me and my baby sis in a car.
    How can she say she a mom but actions say she a straight nothing now.
    Now before you think this poem is straight dissing.
    I'm just airing out my closet and seeing what's missing.
    Just going down memory lane, I know she straight be tripping.
    She a pill popper, I'm an alcoholic, pa does meth, we all be baking.
    I'm looking back on these memories from when I was five years old.
    I don't remember much, as I'm older at twenty-five.
    She ran a train and left me and my baby sis in a car.
    How can she say she a mom but actions say she a straight nothing now.
    The only time we come together for a gathering is if someone is buried.
    Memories, show she straight up abandoned me, as if I was already buried.
    She buried pa, until I was nineteen and found he was living.
    The only time we gather round is if someone is getting buried.
    So hello ma, hello pa, we gathering for y'all burial.
    I'm looking back on these memories from when I was five years old.
    I don't remember much, as I'm older at twenty-five.
    She ran a train and left me and my baby sis in a car.
    A funeral we straight gathering.
    Beneath the surface
    Free from mental manipulation
    Crucifixions and contradictions
    Free from:
    "Don't have sex until marriage"
    Life hurts but it's worth it
    When you dig
    Like a grave keeper
    Beneath the surface
    Trauma induced from a rotten core
    Spoiled like milk
    Hugged tight
    As a suffocated bird in flight
    Pressed down
    These waves of depression
    Envelope all of me
    Until I'm one with the water
    And no longer
    Will I ponder
    If I'm human
    Someone's son
    Someone's daughter
    I'm just a martyr
    A sheep to slaughter
    Nights at Raven's Haunt
    The rain beats down on window glass,
    Throwing transient shades on murky walls-
    Shades that flicker and tauntingly pass.
    Darkness blankets the corridors and halls
    And reverberates each footfall deafening.
    Thunder rages, glowers and rattling winds
    Breathe turmoil. Strange in happening
    When in the dark. Niches hide fiends
    And ridges turn into phantasmic foes.
    Ravens rap on windows, Grims howl. A sign
    Of ill. The only footfall that echoes
    In this haunting manor-house is mine.
    Shadows Cast in the Tree Line
    Some are wide awake in the dead of night
    Bleary-eyed and in tatters
    On the long voyage home
    Some are well aware
    Of what barks in the moonlight,
    Of the roving packs
    Who lay claim to these lands
    They are not afraid
    Of what the snarls in the wild
    For every devilish sound
    Rolls ahead of their stride
