She fought those demons haunting her down,
She endured the pain they had inflicted on her.
She is a fighter who fought the hardest battle,
The battle of rape.
Her screams and cries never went unnoticed by the lord almighty and he's going to make them pay.
And today as she walked by the ladies in the market square,
They pointed fingers at her whispering among themselves,
But she heard them say she was dirty and disgusting.
She felt a lump in her throat and her eyes filled up with tears.
She could not stay quiet anymore,
She was tired of being insulted and mocked for something that shattered her body and soul.
She was tired of society always pointing fingers at her.
So she turned to them and said;
"Why does society always make us feel worthless and make it seem as though we wanted to be used and abused?
You have daughters and sisters whom you love so preciously, what if it happened to someone you care deeply about?
How would you feel?
I am also in pain, infact I am the one in pain but instead choosing to sympathize with me and helping me get through the pain that keeps tugging at my heart,
you insult me and make me feel unworthy.
Would you rather like it if I had died?
And leave the earth for you and your pure daughters that are too pure to be raped?
Rape isn't about your virtuousness or religion or age, rape is rape.
They don't give you a choice, they take it by force leaving you all bloodied and breaking you apart.
And after surviving that pain I have the courage to smile and laugh again,
only for the society to bring me down and tell me that I don't belong.
Only for a man I love to leave me because I disgust him,
Only for the mother of the man I love to tell her son not to marry me for I have been touched and I am not pure,
Only for the elders to point fingers and chase me away when I pass by them.
Why?! Why?! Was it my fault? Did I choose to be broken and shattered?
No I did not. So before you judge me put yourselves or your precious daughters in my shoes,
then will you know what rape really is.
Rape doesn't just inflict physical pain, it causes so many disorders, so many phobias and so many heart breaks.
So don't be quick to point fingers, it might happen to your kids too"
her heart breaking as she spoke,
Her tears pouring like a water fall.
Her voice sounding so distraught.
If only they understood her pain,
But she didn't care anymore,
She doesn't need anyone to fight her battles for her,
She is a woman,
And a strong fighter.
