    Who?

It's been ages since I heard from them.
It's just the autumn breeze now, whispering their name.
Sometimes I wish I'd run into them down the street.
But then I wonder "Would they be pleased to meet?"

I dream up scenarios in my head,
I speak up and say things that I never said.
We sort things out and we start hanging out again.
My chest feels lighter and I'm free of pain.

I miss my friends. I wish I stayed in touch.
I wish I hadn't left and they loved me so much!
I guess this is the price to pay,
To be The Doctor from Gallifrey!

    Doctor

At risk of "letting my geek show",
And an admission of in most things I'm rarely certain,
Yet fully believe this? I truly do:
No human on Earth have I ever met
has ever shown the potential to ever possess
The degree of devotion to another
as the characters have for each other
    in episodes of "Doctor Who"!

    ~soap box~

Necessity is the mother of invention.

Even if they haven't worked out all the quirks yet, like maybe there's a 2% chance you might get disintegrated.

Well, I'd still take that bet over the chance of sitting next to someone with a baby.

    Drunken Diaries : Chapter 1
At super fancy bar named THE PERFECT MATCH, where exquisite booze was available, Crowley, as usual had tempted Aziraphale for a drink. After a tiring day, Neha and Vikram dropped by the same bar for a few drinks. Shortly after that a guy in a Blue suit with a Brown trench-coat comes in (David Tennant's doctor).
Neha jumped on the table-top and announced, “Drinks on meee!!”
Some stranger from crowd asked, “Why so happy girl?”
Neha after a shot of tequila, “Yo girl solved a hundred cases today!”
Vikram looks around at their confused faces, “She means she solved her hundredth case today.”
So after a few drinks of Absinthe, everyone is quite drunk.
Aziraphale saw the doctor, “Crowley? Am I seeing things or does he look just like you? But with regular eyes.”
Crowley immediately, “Oh, you didn't know? I had a twin!”
    Aziraphale shocked, “Since when?”
    Crowley smiling, “Since day 3?!”
Aziraphale faints. Everyone looks at the duo. Doctor and Dr. Vikram bring Aziraphale back to consciousness.
The Doctor, looked around and murmured, “Interesting place I ended up in, and what species is that other guy? He looks like me, but those eyes…”
Vikram said looking at Crowley then the doctor, “Getting drunk this time might just get entertaining, they really do look alike, but the eyes, time to find out and have fun!”
    Neha winked, "Lightweight"
Vikram nudges her, “This might get fun, let's have fun with those Siamese twins”
Crowley, taking Doctor to a side so Aziraphale doesn't hear, “Who are you?”
    Doctor said, “I’m the Doctor!”
    Crowley asked again, “Doctor Who?”
    Doctor smiling, “Yes!”
Crowley impatiently, “That's what I'm asking you dumbass!”
Doctor said plainly, “I am Doctor Who.”
Crowley loosed his shit, “Did I fucking stutter?”
Neha laughs so hard that she’s out of breath.
Vikram takes out a pen and paper and gives to the Doctor, “please write your name”
Doctor writes name in his exquisite handwriting.
    Crowley, squinting, “I can't read.”
Aziraphale, annoyed, “WTF do you mean you can't read, you uncultured... ” he takes the paper, “Oh, I can't read it either!”
Vikram snatches the paper, “oh, his NAME is Doctor WHO. FUCK!!! ”
Neha uncertainly, “Who, as in w-h-o, is his name!? Interesting!”
Doctor, "Just call me the Doctor, and I know all of your names so don't bother telling me yours"
Neha, notoriously pointing at Vikram, "Tell me his name"
Doctor, squints his eyes, 328 names come to his mind, "Which one his real one or one of his 327 aliases?"
Everyone's jaws drop besides the doctor.
    Vikram plainly, "All of them."

    Chapter - 1

  • unearthly_fool 95w

*Dedicated to my favorite fictional hero - Doctor Who*

    Blue Like The Tardis

I'm trapped in this cage of despair now
But my wings had always been clipped
Obligations and insecurities, doubts and fears
Mocked me like goons every time I tripped.

Shielded by a wall of failures, I turned invisible
Self-pity triggered feelings of being inconsequential
That's when I stumbled upon a lonely alien in a blue box
Who travelled valiantly through the time & space paradox.

'The Doctor' is what he called himself
The healer swooping across the universe
    Saving planets, rescuing lives,
Giving hope to broken souls on the verge or tears.

And this is how a fictional hero saved my life
Pulled me out of the neverending darkness
With lessons in kindness in the roughest of times
He inspired my tattered core to rebuild my best self.

Now I'm here again, in this vulnerable fog of uncertainty
Can't help but wish for a fateful set of escapades
Will the Doctor come for me if I pray fervently?
And materialize his TARDIS all around me?

I shall ask him to whisk me away from this dump
Take me to his home planet with multiple suns
The orange skies of Gallifrey, the ethereal citadels
The golden lakes and the effervescent castles.

'But my planet is gone now' he would say wistfully
'Lost forever in the battle of greed and power
It's heart wrenching to be the last survivor of a species
Cursed to swim through eternity forever.'

So I'd beg him to pop me back on earth
To simpler times when the skies were still so blue
Yes, the TARDIS will take me to the distant past
Centuries before our mistakes bore fruits.

And amongst my own kind I shall live happily again
Hoping to warn them of irreversible future disasters
But my words would become mere prophecies of pain
While I'll be cursed to endure the path unaltered.

Background: Inspired by my favorite show, Doctor Who, that always helps me get through the dark days. Doctor who is an alien from the now destroyed planet Gallifrey. He's a time lord who travels in a blue box called the TARDIS (Time And Relative Dimension In Space). It's a time machine. And I'm too old to admit it but I do fantasize about escaping in the TARDIS from time to time.

The Lapse In a Perfect Memory

    I blinked.
I could've sworn it was any other blink.
But the second that whirling played in my ear, that unnatural siren, you could've told me I'd passed out and I'd believe you.

But I didn't pass out. I still stood the same place I had been. And my eyes were pressed together, mid-blink. And I was listening to as the familiar drone ended with a soft huff.

"I thought I landed on Earth, but the people here are sleeping upright."

I opened my eyes and put my hands on my hips. "Aren't you supposed to be a lady now?"

"Spoilers!" He walked right up to me makin laps and starin at me like I was a fat hog. "You're not a child-at least I don't think so- why aren't you at work?"

Now, I've never been shamed of where I came from or nuttin, but staring at that big blue box made me want to seem a bit more... sofisticated. So i triedmy hardest to be sneaky and kick that damn straw hat under the bed, but that spikey haired fella don't miss a thing.
he dropped to the ground and stared at my little secret.

"Oh, no. Are we on a farm? What's more dull than a farm?"

"That's not what you said last time."

Oh, I had his attention now."

"What do you mean? Do I know you?"

"You don't remember me? You introduced my family to those slug lookin guys."

His eyes got real big. "Sky, if I introduced the human race to an alien species, I'd remember."

For a second, he had me going, I was even sweatin a bit. But it all clicked in my head, and I laughed out loud.

"Right! You remember me, but you don't remember Queenie. Ha! Hey, where's your lady friend, Melody?"

"How do I know your name?" He grabbed me by the shoulders and stared deeply into my eyes."
"You need to tell me what's going on, right now."

"Alright." I took one step. It pulled me away from him and closer to the TARDIS. "But I want to drive."

"What are you talking about? I'm the only one that knows how to drive her."

I shook my head. "That is not true."

    "How would you know that?"

I presented my arm to the box and she swung her doors open for me. "Because I built the damn thing."

    To Be Good

Here are some of my favourite dialogues (though most of them are quotes or monologues) from one the best BBC shows, Doctor Who.
Go ahead and read them. Hope you shall enjoy.

I am and always will be the optimist. The hoper of far flung hopes and the dreamer of improbable dreams.

900 years of time and space, and I've never met anyone who wasn't important.

The universe is big, it's vast and complicated, and ridiculous and sometimes, very rarely, impossible things just happen and we call them miracles.

What's the point in two hearts if you can't be a bit forgiving now and then?

Come on, look at me! No plan. No back up. No weapons worth a damn, oh and something else I don't have: anything to lose!
So, if you're sitting up there in your silly little space ships with all your silly little guns and you've got any plans on taking the pandorica tonight, just remember who's standing in your way! Remember every black day I ever stopped you, and then, AND THEN, do the smart thing: let somebody else try first.

    And lastly,

We're all stories in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?

    Because Remember,

NEVER BE CRUEL, NEVER BE COWARDLY.
Remember, HATE IS ALWAYS FOOLISH AND LOVE IS ALWAYS WISE.
ALWAYS TRY TO BE NICE, BUT NEVER FAIL TO BE KIND.
Laugh hard... Run fast... Be kind.
    Doctor, ....I let you go.

    -THE DOCTOR

    The Last Of His Kind

His words transcended like a time machine
As he let his mind wander in past musings
His healing soul barely had any present cravings
But to the pleasant future, he kept escaping
But time machines have minds of their own
They forced him to explore lands long forgone
So when he was with his thoughts all alone
He happily got lost in directions unknown.
Now he has left the ugly war far behind
He survives miraculously as the last of his kind
Rescuing distressed strangers who've gone too blind
Thus unraveling the peace he never expected to find.
While his unreliable radar still marred his direction
He took a leap of faith and set on his true destination
Once in a while, he'll again be lost in desperation
But the universe always protects her treasures on the road to salvation.

Right you were since it all began

If death can be defied, and every

Visible spectrum can move back time, and

Every time with every space moves around,

Round the stars and spaces, and remember -

Kingdoms can shatter at the close of day,

In this strangeness the worlds apart

    Lie bounded by forces beyond,

Love is but such a strange bond

Such that space and time are small and gone.

    Time walks her steady path

    Her slowest and her fastest

Endless path, forever till dawn and night.

Do not fear the space which you are

Oh the universe looks so far

Come the sky and the thousand planets

There you are, just one, whence it began

    On such day, it ticked and went off and on;

Rest in tranquil thoughts, the sun is down, and the battle is fought.

    Starry Night
(Dedicated to the inimitable Vincent Van Gogh)

I never thought I could fall in love,
Until I saw the world through your eyes,
The world that you painted in bewitching colors,
Vibrant, robust and filled with pristine joy.
On dark days, through hopeless plights,
I find solace in your starry night,
The waves of blue, the adorning yellow,
Sweeps away my ocean of sorrow.
When my soul freezes from the echoes of fear,
Your sunflowers are what bring me cheer.
So in awe I wondered, who is this man?
Why on earth is his art so alive and serene?
And then I realized, the tricks life played on you
Incorruptible you, ever so pure, and innocent,
But this cruel world put your soul in a dent
The colors spoke to you, and you embraced them,
But every one in town called you a madman.
You loved how the stars made you dream,
Even if the voices in your head left you in screams
You cut your ear off, hoping to silence the chaos,
Consumed happy yellow paint, but were still so blue
Penniless, starving, alone, no appreciation, no love
Yet you kept walking the path that ignited your soul,
The only one who cared for you was your brother,
Poor guy would do anything to keep you together!
But fortune never smiled on the solitary painter,
Who kept trying to hide his tragedy in lush colors.
But alas! The sly monsters got to him,
He hurt himself, then died on a day so grim,
Feeling ever so unloved and hated,
Sensing that his precious life was wasted.
Oh Vincent! I wish I could tell you how great you are,
You work fuels generations of broken souls with fire,
We are a witness to your world of magnificence,
Even if we'll never be anywhere near your brilliance,
We hope to endure this tragedy of life unbearable,
And rise above it all with a glorious art of character.
With power of awareness, comes great pain,
But like you, we won't let this suffering go in vain.
Now, our dreadful cities are never the prettiest,
But whenever I see a clear starry night,
I thank you, dear remarkable Vincent,
For living and guiding us with your true light.

    ©purple_river

Edit: Yesterday night, I was trying to sleep, but somehow, thoughts about Vincent Van Gogh's tragic life kept crawling in my head. He is an epitome of transforming brokenness into something so beautiful and I'm besotted with him for life. So I promised myself that I would write a poem about him someday.

Today, when I saw the daily Mirakee prompt, my eyes instantly locked on 'starry night' ... It was as if the universe wanted me to write this (and now).. It's all so magical, isn't it? I'm grateful to everyone who took time to read this, because this is so, so close to my heart.

    Beyond The Sins

    Look beyond the greed,
You'll see a heart that aches for more
    The little pangs of jealousy,
Erupt in envy from being deprived and poor.
    We eat like gluttons,
Hoping to fill the big hole in the soul,
But it's still dark and empty
So we reach out to like-minded ghouls
But when we finally find meaning in a heart,
Lust lurks around in the corner
Mocking our intentions to stay pure.
The burden of being a biological low-life,
With more brains than we can handle,
Comes in full play when pride
Hacks our brain with spiritual mumbo-jumbo.
Now, our actions are so corrupt,
    Nothing comes from truth anymore...
The helplessness soon turns to wrath
To fight the conflicts that torture our heads.
So, are we really that sinful?
Or, are we just trying to make sense
Of a defective creation that knows only pretense?

    Spellbound by Adventure

You take my hand and whisper "Run. Run till you laugh away your cares." We run, chased by otherworldly things, everything joyous, even in everlasting peril. The sunsets in another galaxy amaze me endlessly. The stars up close, landing in constalations full to the brim of surprises. Sometimes, i must fight in a forest of goblins and thieves, and allow myself to be rescued from the cloak sleeve of death by a dashing warrior. We ride dragonsin the moonlight, while oftentimes we are the dragons, waiting for our eggs to hatch. But I must be back home in time for dinner I think, as I close your covers. So ironic how love and war go hand in hand
How people are kissed on battlefields

    There are worlds out there
    Where the sky is burning,
    Where the sea's asleep
    And the rivers dream,
    People made of smoke
    And cities made of song.
    Somewhere there's danger,
    Somewhere there's injustice,
    And somewhere else
    The tea is getting cold.
