    The days are lasting longer
sun waits a while before it exits
the scent of freesia dances in the air
    with a light balmy breeze
    and from the quiet
    a symphony of crickets build
the most gorgeous crescendo of life
no matter it’s just me here
    standing tiny in the grass
    hoping for an encore

    Standing on the shore
    the sea breeze speckles sand
    against my cheek
    air scented with salty memories
    castles built and washed away
with nary a trace they ever stood
    like winter’s skin
    a paler shade of happiness
that only the summer sun offers
    hidden among the feathery grass
    of the familiar dunes
    a single pearl gleams opalescent
waiting in silence all this time
    take me back there

    Lost in the woods
the smell of wet bark and fear
each vine grows up at my feet
like a hand reaching up through
    the earth
    careful to avoid the
    nettle wielding nymphs
    broken branches poking my flesh
    going in circles
    which way is out
    all paths return to one
    the chatter of insects buzzing
    confusion swarms dread
    ferns become my bed
    I’d leave if I could
I’m forever lost in these woods

    heavy heart laden with
    romantic notions
    these things always seeped in
    after days of gray
when the petrichor tickled my nose
    an ardent reminder of what
    storms leave behind

    I gave and gave
    you took and you got
    greedy hands make haste
    snatching the shiniest gem
    that doesn’t mean it’s
    worth the most
    you’ve foolishly chosen plastic, dear
    but I’m a fucking diamond

    It started as a conversation
    the connection felt real
    a pull from the universe
    telling me it's ok to
    tell my truths
most days I just feel broken
and weird but he made me
    feel understood and special
    until I wasn’t

    I've always been haunted
as a little girl I saw my first ghost
ever since then they seem to find me
but even when the dark is silent
and they feel no need to be heard
I am still haunted, by poor decisions
the dark cloud that always follows me
the voice in my head, annoyingly shrill
    filled with desperation and fear
these ghosts are far more terrifying

I tumbled down a hill and
    fell up a waterfall
    danced with a colorful toad
and sang songs with a spotted hog
I flew through skies of vanilla
barreling my way around the clouds
all fluffy and scented like daffodils
    in the midst of my
    slumbering adventure
as if like a mirage in the desert
I saw him, sauntering towards me
like a pirate meandering along cobbled paths of patchwork stones and grassy knobs
    light catches his spectacles
and I can see the blue of his gaze
Caspian Sea raging in those eyes
my heart skips and trips and sighs
    and this is where the
    sleepy fool’s paradise
    got terribly interesting

You were born of the autumn equinox
    blessed by the pale moonlight
an old soul with stories to tell
of the dark and shadowy places
and a gift for portraying the gray
as nothing other than a haven
    of beauty.

I had deja vu today, so surreal
I could have sworn I lived this
    moment a thousand lifetimes ago
    in some crazy parallel dimension
my shoe heel got caught in the
chipped floor, I fell and scraped
my knee, but is this real?
I lost all sense of time
but the blood stain is fresh
