Like a lost penny on the sidewalk
You wonder where the time went
Only realizing its value
when it's gone.

A little messed up

Some battles are won
by simply not fighting
Trade a rook
kill a queen
Defeat a king
gain a kingdom
Know when a loss
brings greater returns.

I'm at the tip of your tongue,
always on the verge of
being remembered.

Oranges and apples
rolling under the dining table
eggs couldn't defy gravity
and break on impact
beans cover the floor
like a masochist's favorite rug
and leafy greens adorn your feet
like Hermes' winged sandals
when their wings are cut off
You hold in your hand
the wretched brown paper bag
torn perfectly at the bottom
in two, like open lips
about to scream in frustration
At first, you stare after
the rolling fruits as if you
can miraculously stop their momentum
and at the strangely beautiful
mural of edible mess on your floor
You feel the anger set in
warming the insides of your throat
like a geyser of fire about to shoot off
your hands shake and
tears slowly blur your vision
you could've prevented this
in some form of premonition
your subconscious tried to
warn you this would happen
but you ignored it anyway
and chose to trust the
flimsy bag and the feeling
that the universe wouldn't be that cruel
Don't you remember that it rains
when you least expect it?
Don't you remember the traffic jam
is at its worse when you're late?
Who do you blame for these things?
God, circumstances, you
But only you cleans up
the mess.

A pirate's dream
I'm digging gold jewelries buried
in the sand, thousands of them
but I'm not just taking everything
I'm choosing the best looking ones
the most dainty, most intriguing
I know I'm not supposed to be here
so I'm digging in all haste now
taking as much as I can
even the tacky ones
chain necklaces, elegant rings
old and odd looking things,
Worth a pirate's loot
Digging, digging...
I've been digging
all night it seems
Imagine my regret
when I woke up
realizing I've taken
nothing.

Just a body
just a body until
you get to know
somebody better
And they become
just nobody again
after getting to know
them some more

For a second, I thought
everything is alright.
But it was just someone
who looked like you
And hope was crushed
like a moth's wings.

If I could, I'll plant
this melancholy in a fertile ground
until it grows into a garden
I can walk on after the rain
while a sad song plays
and my tears water the roses
If I could, I'll plant
this melancholy and
have a garden.

Calm down, I say
as if a wave subsides midway to crashing.

Whatever I can't put into words
I draw in paper
Whatever's left can be described
like the color blue to the blind.
